Artist Statement: My work confronts social and economic justice issues, corruption, violence, and equality through concepts of irony, hypocrisy, and satire. Working within the daily news cycle, I expose pervasive systems like white supremacy, patriarchal dominance, racism, and alt-right patriotism. I also investigate history and symbology in the current context. In many cases, simple graphic elements that gain prominence in certain movements, become obscene—reclaimed for the intention of malice and hatred. Graphic design is arguably the most potent means of propaganda, and my work uses design to express a sharper discourse on our national conscience.

Mixed media collages are an extension of my fine arts degree, design training, and professional experience with additional layers of tactile complexity. Working with different and multiple mediums best captures my impassioned style, using raw materials to add emotional authenticity to each piece. There is an involved process in the images I research and select. I use many historical photographs to draw correlations, illustrate patterns of unresolved issues, repeat history, or show how slowly the wheels of justice can turn.

This collection is a conceptual, elaborate interpretation of the soul of our nation.
